Overview

The recently renovated Essex Inn is an intimate hotel located in downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue, across from Grant Park and Lake Michigan. Our hotel is within walking distance to downtown shopping districts and most major museums.

Our tastefully designed guest rooms are thoughtfully appointed with everything you need to enhance your stay whether you're traveling for business or pleasure. Our standard rooms have amenities such as hairdryers, data port hookups, voicemail messaging, automated wakeup service, iron and ironing board, and 25-inch color TV with extended cable package, including HBO.

One of the focal points of the recent hotel renovation is the Garden Pool and Fitness Center on the fourth floor rooftop. The large pool is enclosed with a retractable glass enclosure that offers year-round swimming in a comfortable environment with fabulous views. The heated floor is comprised of stamped, colored concrete that simulates the appearance of natural slate stone. The pool terrace extends onto the rooftop garden and is softened with the addition of an exotic Brazilian hardwood deck that overlooks Grant Park, Lake Michigan and Chicago's famous skyline. Surrounding three flowering pear trees in custom-lit glass planter boxes in the garden are 25 species of perennials and ornamental grass. Lounge chairs and seating make the garden a great respite.

Adjacent to the pool and sauna is the new 1,350 square foot Fitness Center with a large selection of equipment including treadmills, weight machines, and free weights. Six televisions complement this expansive facility.

The Savoy Bar and Grill in the lobby serves continental fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After dinner, light fare is served in the Bar until closing.

An intimate setting for your group function, the Essex Inn has the ideal facilities for your meetings and group activities. The Gecht Boardroom fits 12 people; Essex Court - 40 people; Windsor Court - 50 people; Venetian Room - 50 people; Park East Gallery - 150 people; Rooftop Garden Deck - 50 people. Also, the new 24-hour Business Center comes complete with computer work stations, printers and high speed internet connections.
